Tuition, tutoring, curriculum, therapies and testing are the core expenses ESA programs reimburse. Enrichment, devices and transport vary by program and need proof of learning benefit.

No two programs share one expense list. Treat the groups below as a starting map, then check your handbook line by line.

## Almost always covered

Private school tuition leads every program. Microschool tuition counts as tuition in Arizona, Texas and Utah. Approved online schools count too.

Tutoring is covered everywhere, in person and online. North Carolina ESA+ names online tutoring in its ClassWallet Marketplace as an approved path.

Curriculum and books are covered everywhere, print or digital. Full curriculum kits, single courses and textbooks all count.

Therapies are covered, strongest in disability programs such as Florida FES-UA: speech therapy, occupational therapy and dyslexia services from licensed providers.

Standardised testing is covered. Some programs require yearly testing, so the test doubles as compliance paperwork.

## Often covered, with proof

Enrichment classes count when they show a clear learning outcome. Florida approves fitness, art, music and camp programs in its marketplace. Other programs judge each case alone. A class page that states the learning goal helps.

Summer programs count in Florida when they meet the educational-benefit test. Ask whether your program runs the same rule.

## Disputed: ask first

Devices split programs. One program allows a computer as a learning tool, another denies it. Get pre-approval in writing before you buy, and never assume last year's answer still holds.

Transport is rarely core. Florida FES-UA lists it; most programs do not. Uniforms, food and travel almost never count.

## How vendors fit in

Marketplace vendors take direct pay: Outschool in Utah's Odyssey marketplace, Time4Learning across ten states, Savvy Learning in Arizona, Wyoming and North Carolina. Off-marketplace vendors work by receipt where the program allows it. Arizona has no approved list at all, so receipts carry more weight there.

## Paperwork that wins claims

Keep itemised invoices with your child's name, the date and the learning purpose. Match each line to one handbook category. File termly, not yearly, so a denied line does not sink a year's claims. When in doubt, ask the program in writing and keep the reply with the receipt.

## Questions

### Are microschool fees reimbursable?

Yes, in programs that cover tuition. Microschool tuition is the core expense in Arizona, Texas and Utah.

### Can I buy a laptop with ESA funds?

Sometimes. Devices are the most disputed category. Get pre-approval in writing before you buy.

### Do I need receipts?

Yes. Every program wants itemised invoices with your child's name, even for direct-pay marketplace orders.

> **Not financial or legal advice.** ESA Vendors lists education vendors and the programs families say reimburse them. Rules change often and differ by state, province and child, so check the program's own published rules before you spend. An approval label names the official list and the date we read it.
